New School of Music offers a variety of group lessons, classes & ensembles through our three locations, our partners in Music Education; Atlanta Music Education Center and the Music Class; and our 501 (c)(3), non-profit partner; Gwinnett Community Symphony Orchestra.

Gwinnett Community Symphony Orchestra

The Gwinnett Community Symphony Orchestra, residence orchestra for New School of Music, is a volunteer symphony orchestra comprised of talented adult and youth musicians and provides outstanding educational performances of classical and popular music for the diverse metro Atlanta community. The GCSO consists of 5 ensembles; the Symphony Orchestra, Ballet Orchestra, Symphony Chorus, Horn Quartet, and Brass Quintet.

Yamaha Music Education System

The Yamaha Music Education System has been created to capitalize on the young child’s spontaneity, curiosity and pleasure at being in a group situation.  Yamaha students grow in well - rounded musicianship - understanding, improvising and composing music as well as performing.  3 Years to Adults

• Researched - based and carefully planned

• Teaches elements of music through singing, clapping/movement, ear playing, Fixed “do” solfege, note reading

• Group format - placement by age and skill

• Ensemble playing on state-of-the-art Yamaha keyboards

• Small classes - from six to 12 students with parents

• Parent participation - parents become “at-home” learning partners even without previous musical training  complete information here

    Beginning Guitar for Children and Teens!

These "Quickstart” beginner classes cover the basics to get you playing songs right away! Your tuition includes a sized acoustic guitar, gig bag, method book and CD; all for you to keep! We require a 5 student minimum for classes to begin and will accept no more than 10 students per class.

Beginning Violin for Children

These "Quickstart” beginner classes cover the basics of rhythm, pitch, bowing and sight-singing. Your tuition includes a sized violin, bow, case, rosin, and method book; all for you to keep! We require a 5 student minimum for classes to begin and will accept no more than 10 students per class.

Learn the Recorder & Instrument Petting Zoo

These "Quickstart” beginner classes cover the basics to get you playing songs right away! Your tuition includes a Yamaha Recorder, bag, method book and CD; all for you to keep! The teacher will also present a different band or orchestra instrument each class for students to touch and play!

Overview of Band and Orchestra Instruments

These classes are designed to give students an overview of the major instruments played in school band and orchestra.  Students will touch and play a Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Drum, Violin, Viola & Cello.  Each student will receive free stuff each week!
