New Lilburn School Partnership... Husband and wife, Adrian Norris and Carlene Hutchinson, have partnered with New School of Music owners, Robert Trocina and Rick Smith, at the Lilburn, GA school and retail facility. The partnership began taking shape in late 2007 and has since been finalized in preparation of a formal announcement of their ownership and partnership as of January 1, 2008. Both Adrian and Carlene bring a wealth of talent and musical experience to the school. Adrian is retired from a lifelong career as principal French Hornist with the BBC Orchestra. Carlene has also been a student of music throughout her life and is quite adept on trumpet, saxophone and guitar. Though Carlene boasts many musical talents, her career has been and remains in early childhood education and development. This marriage of experience and strength in music and education is sure to pave the way to new musical heights both in 2008 and in years to come!
Adrian Norris Adrian has been a professional French Horn player for nearly forty years with BBC orchestras. In that time he has also played with all the other major London orchestras and many more outside the capital city. His work has taken him to many European countries, the USA and Japan on numerous occasions. Besides associations with the larger orchestras, Adrian has also played principal horn in many chamber orchestras and chamber groups. The range of music he has played has been varied including classical, ballet, jazz, light music and big band. He has deputised in many London West End shows and made many live performances and recordings for radio, television and CDs. As well as playing, he has also taught in Local Authority and private schools throughout his career providing individual tuition and guidance as band master. Other work in schools has been undertaken as a member of small groups from the BBC Concert Orchestra, as they supported children with major music projects involving them in composing, arranging and performing. Adrian is currently a member of the Peachtree Symphonic Winds, Gwinnett Community Symphony Orchestra and is also a founder member of the Gwinnett Horn Quartet.
Carlene Hutchinson Carlene has enjoyed performing and teaching all her life. She has been a member of various London amateur wind/brass bands, orchestras and choral groups and has participated in many music camps over the years as a participant and teacher. She has also revelled in the involvement the family has been afforded with the professional music world through the long, horn-playing career of her husband, Adrian Norris! Carlene is a teacher by profession and has taught pupils 8wks – 18yrs in schools. She came to the USA recently from her position as Assistant Principal of a large Primary school in London and Early Years Education Professor at a school-based teacher-training facility. She comes now, to NSM, from the post of Director at a private pre-school. She intends to continue to provide teacher training through her work with NSM, and has a particular interest in providing rich musical experiences for the many, particularly the very young and those with special needs. Carlene is currently a member of the Peachtree Symphonic Winds and the Gwinnett Community Symphony Orchestra.
