Summer Music Camp - 2008!

Enroll Now – Camp Space is Limited!
Choose your week,
location, interest, age group, and whether you want a half camp or whole
camp. Each half camp meets for 2 ˝ hours; Monday – Friday. If you
choose a half camp, you may choose either the 1st class or 2nd
class in a group below. The total cost for each half camp is
$165.00. The total cost for a whole camp is $275.00
($55 discount) and includes both classes in a group below.
Students must attend both classes in the same group, on the same week to
qualify for a whole camp.
Fees include registration, instruction, snacks, and all materials!
A $40 deposit holds your place in a camp and is refundable until 2 weeks
prior to camp start date.

Learn the Guitar
Students will learn the basics of guitar
playing including: holding the guitar and pick, tuning, reading music,
playing melodies, and strumming chords. The instructor will use call
and response songs and games to keep classes lively and engaging. In
addition, popular music will be discussed shedding light on various
guitar techniques such as power chords, bends, and riffs. As the week
progresses, students will learn to play in groups of 2 or 3 concluding
the week with a performance for parents and friends. Your tuition
includes a sized acoustic guitar, gig bag, method book and CD; all for
you to keep!

History of Rock and Roll
Students will embark
on a fascinating journey into rock’s storied past and learn where their
favorite music came from. Artists will include Chuck Berry, Elvis,
Hendirx, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Nirvana, Green Day, and many more.
Video of actual performances of Rock’s greatest pioneers as well as live
demonstrations of styles and techniques will be used by instructor.
Students will participate in activities such as lyric writing for
rockers, making a festival concert poster, reviewing an album as a
Critic for Rolling Stone, and designing an album cover for the ultimate
dream rock band.

Musical Theater
Explore the joys of
both music and theater in this fun and entertaining course. Students
are encouraged to interact with fellow classmates in excerpts from
various Broadway scenes. Enhance your budding skills of acting with
plenty of vocal technique, chorus singing, and development of stage
presence. Participate in scenes from Oliver, Annie, Beauty and the
Beast, Wizard of Oz, Brigadoon, Cinderella, and/or Sound of Music on
final camp day. All class materials are included in camp tuition.

Sacred Ensembles
No experience required
for this fun filled camp which takes students on a 1,000 year musical
journey beginning with Gregorian chant and ending with contemporary
music. Explore the various ensembles found in churches today such as
choir, hand chimes, soloing and more. Fundamentals of music are taught
in a fun and exciting way using games such as musopoly, music theory
jeopardy, musical history trivia, and ear training bingo. Five day
course will culminate an ensemble performance of hand chimes, and a
rhythm and piano accompanied choir number performed with professional
musicians. Camp tuition includes Melodee Bells and Musopoly Game; all
for you to keep!

Learn the Violin
These "Quickstart” beginner classes cover the
basics of rhythm, pitch, bowing and sight-singing. Your tuition includes
a sized violin, bow, case, rosin, and method book; all for you to keep!
By the end of this 5 day camp, students will play songs which everyone
will recognize and enjoy. This class is the best way to prepare for
private lessons or for school orchestra.

Junior Band Master
Become the leader of
the band! Each day we will explore a new instrument and a different
time period in the development of the American Concert Band. You will
touch and play 5 major instruments including the Trumpet, Trombone,
Clarinet, Saxophone, and Snare Drum! You will become “the leader of the
band” as you learn how to conduct to the John Philip Sousa Band with
your very own baton! Each class will cover main concepts of music
theory and ear training. If you have ever considered learning a band
instrument, this class is for you! All class materials are included in
camp tuition.
