GWINNETT SYMPHONY MUSICAL ARTS CONSORTIUM


Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra


Founded in 2005, Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra (GSO) is under the direction of Robert Trocina. GSO is comprised of approximately 90 musicians from all walks of life from Gwinnett and the surrounding region. GSO is made up of primarily volunteer musicians with a few key professional musicians. Many of these musicians have been loyal members of the symphony since its inception. Members include music faculty from New School of Music, local school music programs and universities, and community musicians. GSO performs multiple concerts per season including masterworks, family concerts, sensory friendly concerts, young people’s concerts and combined concerts with our symphony chorus, jazz orchestra and Northeast Atlanta Ballet. GSO sponsors a youth piano concerto competition and hosts international conductors annually. Membership in GSO is by audition with the conductor or by invitation. Interested musicians may enquire about membership throughout the year based on chair availability.

Gwinnett Symphony Chorus


Founded in 2007, Gwinnett Symphony Chorus (GSC) is under the direction of Rick Smith. GSC is comprised of approximately 80 singers from all walks of life from Gwinnett and the surrounding region. GSC is made up of primarily volunteer musicians with a few key professional musicians. Many of these musicians have been loyal members of the chorus since its inception. Members include music faculty from New School of Music, local school music programs and universities, and community musicians. GSC performs multiple concerts per season including masterworks, holiday concerts and combined concerts with our symphony orchestra and jazz orchestra. GSC performed Renee Clausen’s Memorial at Lincoln Center in New York on September 11, 2011 in a special concert commemorating the 10th anniversary of the tragic events in NYC. Membership in GSC is by audition with the conductor or by invitation. Interested musicians may inquire about membership throughout the year.

Gwinnett Symphony Chamber Orchestra


Founded in 2010, Gwinnett Symphony Chamber Orchestra (GSCO) is under the direction of Dr. Gregory Pritchard. GSCO serves as the education outreach orchestra of Gwinnett Symphony Musical Arts Consortium and each performance contains key educational components developed to educate our youth musicians in Gwinnett County. The ensemble and will vary in size accordingly to the programming with the average concert consisting of approximately 25-40 musicians. GSCO is comprised of musicians from all walks of life from Gwinnett and the surrounding region. GSCO is made up of primarily volunteer musicians with a few key professional musicians. Members include music faculty from New School of Music, local school music programs and universities, and community musicians. Membership in GSCO is by audition with the conductor or by invitation. Interested musicians may enquire about membership throughout the year based on chair availability.

Gwinnett Symphony Wind Orchestra


Gwinnett Symphony Wind Orchestra performed its inaugural concert on November 7, 2015 under the direction of founding conductor, and now conductor emeritus, Dr. Thomas Martin Wubbenhorst. Dr. Wubbenhorst performed his retirement concert on May 7, 2017 where he passed the baton to Dr. Robert Dunham as the newly appointed music director for the 2017-18 Season. GSWO programs literature from the symphonic band, wind ensemble and military band traditions. The ensemble and will vary in size accordingly to the programming with the average concert consisting of approximately 50 musicians. GSWO typically performs three concerts per season at Discovery High School Theater in Lawrenceville, GA. Membership in GSWO is by audition with the conductor or by invitation. Interested musicians may inquire about membership throughout the year.

Gwinnett Symphony Jazz Orchestra


Founded in 2015, Gwinnett Symphony Jazz Orchestra (GSJO) is under the direction of Dr. Jose Manuel Garcia. GSJO is comprised of approximately 12 musicians from all walks of life from Gwinnett and the surrounding region. GSJO is made up of primarily volunteer musicians with a few key professional musicians. Members include music faculty from New School of Music, local school music programs and universities, and community musicians. GSJO performs multiple concerts per season and performs repertoire over a wide spectrum of Jazz styles. Membership in GSJO is by audition with the conductor or by invitation. Interested musicians may enquire about membership throughout the year based on chair availability.

Gwinnett Symphony Youth Orchestra


Founded in 1997, Gwinnett Symphony Youth Orchestra (GSYO) is under the direction of Dr. Gregory Pritchard. Gwinnett Symphony Youth Orchestra provides young, advanced level instrumentalists in the Gwinnett area the opportunity to supplement and enhance their music education through opportunities to learn symphonic literature and high quality orchestral and ensemble training. Membership is by audition or teacher recommendation and is open to all middle school and high school string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players. Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays at Discovery High School from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. GSYO presents three concerts per season and performs at Discovery High School Theater and Infinite Energy Theater. Interested youth musicians may inquire about membership throughout the year based on chair availability.
